Course Description

This course will explore the complex emotional and spiritual dynamics of guilt and shame in Christian clients and provide practical strategies for fostering healing through grace. Mental health professionals and Clergy will gain insights into the theological and psychological underpinnings of guilt and shame, including how they manifest in Christian belief systems and impact mental health. The session will focus on helping clients reconcile feelings of unworthiness with the concept of divine grace, promoting self-compassion and emotional healing. Through case studies and therapeutic interventions, participants will learn how to integrate faith-based approaches into clinical practice, empowering clients to embrace grace and let go of shame. This training is designed to equip mental health professionals and clergy with the tools to support Christian clients in cultivating a healthier relationship with themselves and their faith.


This is an Intermediate level course. The course is open to mental health professionals, clergy, students, teachers, social workers, case managers, and individuals interested in gaining knowledge on how to support individuals heal through the grace of God.

2. Identify common triggers for guilt and shame within religious contexts.

3. Explain the concept of grace as a psychological and spiritual tool for reframing guilt.

5. Facilitate open and respectful conversations about sexuality within a faith-based framework.

Alexis Frederick-Bouy, is a Sexologist and Mental health Therapist. Alexis’ educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Bloomsburg University, a Master of Arts in Community Psychology and Social Change from Pennsylvania State University, and a Master of Education in Human Sexuality Studies from Widener University. She served the mental health community for over ten years focusing on family dynamics emphasizing attachment, communication, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and resource building. Alexis' passion is to educate and empower individuals to live a fulfilling life by challenging survival thinking and living patterns and replacing them with thriving patterns. Alexis is a wife and mother of two. Alexis is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. ************************************************************* Adreeonah Mundy is a licensed professional counselor and the owner of Being Made Well Counseling LLC, a private practice dedicated to empowering women through faith-based and clinical counseling. With licenses in both Pennsylvania and Georgia, Adreeonah specializes in helping women navigate relationship issues, imposter syndrome, work-life balance, spirituality, and challenges unique to creatives. Her approach seamlessly integrates psychological expertise with spiritual wisdom, offering holistic support to her clients. As a speaker, Adreeonah frequently participates in panels focused on mental health and spirituality, sharing her insights to uplift and inspire women. She is also a writer and mentor, committed to guiding others on their journeys toward emotional and spiritual well-being. Through her practice and public engagements, Adreeonah continues to make a profound impact on the lives of women seeking healing and growth.
