A Framework for Anti-Oppressive Social Work Supervision

FREE 1 CE HOUR

PRE-RECORDED WEBINAR

Social work supervision is an integral component of every social worker's professional grounding and development- both as a supervisor and supervisee. It is also an integral component to ensuring the clients and communities served are not further harmed by oppressive service provision. It is imperative for current and aspiring social work supervisors to have the mindset and tools necessary to cultivate an anti-racist supervision practice. By doing so, we also ensure an anti-oppressive supervision practice that creates space for professionals to thrive and provide innovative, human-centered care and advocacy.

In this session, we will get clear on the purpose, practices, and possibilities of anti-racist and anti-oppressive social work supervision through the exploration of a 5-component model developed by the instructors, two Black female social workers, over the course of their combined 40 years of experience.

Presenters:
Sharea Farmer, LCSW
Dawn E. Shedrick, LCSW

Learning Objectives:

After completing this live webinar, you will be able to:

1. DESCRIBE an anti-oppressive paradigm as an integral component of social work practice and supervision
